ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A lockdown Wednesday at Dr. Phillips High School has been lifted, according Orlando police.
The school was placed on lockdown around 11:45 a.m. after someone reported seeing a gun on campus, police said.
"I was in the lunch line, about to get food. One of the administrators said to get to class. Everyone was rushing to fifth period. So, we went back to fifth period and were in lockdown for the whole hour," student Tyrell Huggins said.
School officials sent a call to parents alerting them of the issue.
"Students notified the administration that they allegedly saw a gun on campus. Our staff quickly addressed the situation and we are working with law enforcement on this matter. We want to commend the student for doing the right thing and reporting this," said principal Suzanne Knight in the message to parents.
Police said they were unable to find a weapon and the lockdown was lifted.
According to police, officers will remain on the campus with an increased presence during dismissal Wednesday.
