Deputies investigating 2 deadly shootings in East Orange County, suspect in custody

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are investigating two separate shootings that left two people dead in East Orange County on Independence Day.

Eyewitness News has crews at each scene gathering additional details.

Deputies responded to the 5200 block of Sailfish Street just after 2 p.m. for reports of a shooting. They arrived to find a man in his 40s who had been shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries there, according to the sheriff’s office.

Less than 15 minutes later, just before 2:30 p.m., additional Orange County deputies responded to the 2700 block of Appaloosa Road, approximately three miles away from Sailfish Street, for reports of another shooting.

There, deputies found a man in his 20s who was shot. He was also taken to a hospital and died there.

Orange County detectives say they believe both shootings are related.

Deputies say they have detained a suspect in the shootings, and there’s no threat to the general public.

Neither the victims nor the possible suspect have been identified.
