ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Tuesday Orange County commissioners will provide an update on recovery efforts from Hurricane Ian.
At a briefing on Monday, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said that losses from storm damage total more than $188 million.

While damage has been spread across Orange County, the Orlo Vista community was one of the most visibly impacted.
Longtime resident Levi Williams said that after the flooding from Hurricane Irma five years ago she hoped county officials would have come up with a plan to keep it from happening again.
“Everything in my house is gone. Gone. My oven had about a gallon or two of water in it,” she said.
Williams is one of several residents who plan on attending Tuesday’s meeting to urge the mayor to do more for affected areas.

“We have too much technology for this to be happening in a neighborhood. We can’t control God’s work but our politicians can fix this,” she said.
