ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A public hearing is schedule Tuesday evening in regards to allowing unincorporated Orange County residents to have chickens on their property.
There would be several strict rules, but first the ordinance must pass.
If the ordinance passes, residents would be allowed to have a maximum of three hens in a coop, and roosters would be banned.
The chickens would be for egg-use only, and they cannot be used for slaughtering.
Residents would also have to complete a training course before they were granted a permit for the chickens.
Channel 9 spoke with residents who said they have mixed feelings about allowing the chickens.
If passed, the ordinance could take effect at the next scheduled meeting on July 2.
