Opening date announced for Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It’s-a go time!

Universal Studios Hollywood on Wednesday announced that Super Nintendo World will officially open to the public on Feb. 17.

The park also provided specifics that give clues into what we can expect when the land opens within Epic Universe, Universal’s newest Orlando theme park, in summer 2025.

The land’s signature ride will be “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge,” based on the Mario Kart video games. Using cutting-edge AR, projection mapping technology, set pieces and a moving ride track, guests will navigate through familiar courses while competing for the Golden Cup and collecting coins to defeat Team Bowser and win.

Fans of the games will also notice Mount Beanpole and Bowser’s Castle in the land.

Guests can also purchase Power-Up bands, wristbands that sync with the Universal Studios Hollywood free downloadable app to enhance many of its interactive elements, including collecting digital coins.

Interactive gameplay in Super Nintendo World, includes punching the iconic ? Blocks to collect coins, interactive binoculars and more.

For those who want a literal taste of Mario’s world, Toadstool Café will serve gourmet food by Chef Toad, including Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, Super Mushroom Soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Bacon Cheeseburger, Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger, ? Block Tiramisu and Princess Peach Cupcake.

Visitors will be able to take home memorabilia from Super Nintendo World at the 1-UP Factory.

The opening will mark the first Nintendo-themed land in the U.S., following the location at Universal Studios Japan.
