Officials, community meet over concerns after rise in school violence in Central Florida

APOPKA, Fla. — Central Florida school districts and people in the community are coming together to figure out how to end violence in the classroom.

Many came out Monday night to a roundtable discussion in Orange County.

People shared their ideas at the meeting on the best ways to keep children safe in schools.

So far in 2023, there has been a shooting and a number of violent threats at several schools around Central Florida.

Several in attendance said problems in the classroom often start as problems at home.

Church leaders were also in attendance. They stressed the importance of teaching kids right from wrong.
