ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Public Schools has a plan for students to make up classroom time they missed during Hurricane Ian.

OCPS board members decided Tuesday night to cancel an upcoming student holiday and to turn several early dismissal days into full school days.

On Oct. 28, students and teachers will now have a regular school day instead of the student holiday that was on OCPS’ original calendar.
The district said it will also replace seven early-dismissal Wednesdays with full academic days between November and May to make up for lost hours in the classroom.
Those seven dates include:
- Nov. 9, 2022
- Dec. 7, 2022
- Jan. 18, 2023
- Feb. 1, 2023
- Feb. 15, 2023
- March 22, 2023
- May 10, 2023
