Ocoee Remembers 2022 honors the 102nd anniversary of the 1920 Ocoee Election Day Massacre.
The city said that this year’s Ocoee Remembers 2022 weekend is dedicated to uniting, celebrating, healing and educating people about the tragic event, with the goal of highlighting the message “no voice, no vote.”
Guests got to enjoy live music, inspirational speakers, food trucks, a kids’ zone, small businesses, community vendors and much more.
Before the festival, the second annual Julius “July” Perry Memorial Highway Honor Ride was held by the Orlando and Tampa chapters of the Buffalo Soldiers.
They rode from Oakland Avenue Charter School to Bill Breeze Park on motorcycles.
Later this evening, the HighPoint Church will host an inspirational program and candlelight walk to honor the Ocoee Massacre victims and descendants.
The program and walk will take place at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center and Bill Breeze Park.
