Ocala National Forest offers Christmas Tree Permits

Date(s): Nov 25, 2013 - Dec 25, 2013

The U.S. Forest Service will again sell Christmas tree permits. For those who would like to harvest a Christmas tree from the Ocala National Forest, the area will be available for harvesting a tree Nov. 25 thru Dec. 24.

Permits may be obtained by mail or by visiting the Silver Springs or the Umatilla Forest Service office. Anyone wishing to obtain a permit is encouraged to do so as soon as possible. The cost per tree is $7.00. All permit holders will receive directions and maps to the designated tree cutting area at the time of purchase.

While searching for your Christmas tree, consider spending the day exploring the Ocala National Forest. With milder weather in December, take this time to enjoy a hike or picnic. Maps showing various recreation activities are also available at the Forest Service offices and visitor centers. For additional information, please call the Lake George Ranger District office at (352) 625-2520 or the Seminole Ranger District Office at (352) 669-3153.
