SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Massive flooding continues to be an issue for people living along Lake Harney near the Saint Johns River, with cars and homes submerged underwater.

While the water has receded some, there is still significant flooding. Boats are really the only way people are getting in and out of the neighborhood.
Five days after Hurricane Ian, Joyce McQuay, her dog Kehlie, her granddaughter and her son had to float out of the community by boat.

“It is a nightmare,” McQuay said. “Fay was the worst we’ve ever had, and this is beyond that.”
Channel 9 crews rode into the community on the back of a flatbed towed by a tractor. Cars were underwater, and homes looked like they were in the middle of a lake. Mailboxes were barely popping above the surface.

One man was pulling submerged cars out of the water.
Projections by the National Weather Service on the Saint Johns River by Lake Harney show this is at major flood stage for another two-and-a-half weeks.
