New tourism district poised to fund Seminole County attractions

Seminole County will soon have more money to build projects believed to drive economic growth — most notably a proposed $61 million indoor sports complex.

Because more than 51% of Seminole County’s hoteliers have now signed on, a tourism improvement district (TID) plan will be presented to county commissioners so they can pass a formal resolution to collect the agreed-upon assessment from hotel guests.

News of the hoteliers’ approval was announced during the Dec. 10 county commission meeting by Seminole County Manager Darren Gray.
