New Reedy Creek board looks to reverse control deal with Disney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The battle between Gov. Ron DeSantis and Disney could reach a new peak Wednesday.

The new board overseeing Disney’s special district wants to reverse a deal the company reached with the old Reedy Creek board.

What was slated to be an informational meeting about steps to nullify a controversial development agreement.

Some business owners at the meeting addressed the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board about their concerns for the future.

The new board is set to nullify the development agreement created by Disney’s former Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The agreement stripped the board of most of its powers when Disney handed over control in February.

Some argue the agreement is unconstitutional, specifically the provision that forces the district to provide infrastructure for all of Disney’s building projects for the next 30 years.
