New Orange County tourist development task force meets for first

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new Orange County Tourist Development Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force met for the first time Wednesday.

The money is collected when visitors book hotel rooms throughout the county.

Though it was mostly an introductory meeting the group could change the way millions of dollars are spent.

Decisions made by the advisory board, which is made up of members of government, hospitality, and chamber of commerce, could impact the future of those living in Orange County.

The total TDT reserves are around $287 million.

In the past, It has been used for the convention center, tourism promotion, art museums, and professional sports facilities.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 17.
