ORLANDO, Fla. — The Federal Aviation Administration introduced an artificial intelligence system this week to help minimize interruptions to air travel.
The technology is designed to assist air traffic controllers in making improved decisions regarding flight routes.
The new system evaluates 200 distinct data points to help guide navigation decisions.
These inputs include weather patterns, traffic flow and flight paths.
Some critics have expressed concerns regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence in aviation, citing potential safety issues and technology errors.
The Federal Aviation Administration stated that air traffic controllers will continue to be responsible for every final choice, retaining complete decision-making authority.
