ALTAMONTE, SPRINGS, Fla. — Some Altamonte Springs residents said they were sick of seeing piles of junk outside a home in their neighborhood.
Neighbors said part of the junk contained old cars, tires and a bathroom sink.
During a code enforcement board hearing Thursday, an officer described what she saw in the backyard.
"There is glass, wood, metal, plastics. There is probably every type of material out there," the officer said.
The problem is that the homeowner, Julia Diane Ivey-Heirs, who was given until Nov. 11 to clean up the mess, died in 2013. %

Neighbors said a man who has been at the home recently was to blame for the mess.
“Everybody that drives by, they slow down and say, ‘What's going on?’ And there's nothing we can do,” said a neighbor who did not give a name.
No one answered the door when Channel 9 knocked, but as the reporter was leaving the neighborhood, a man started to haul away some of the junk.
“How long do you think it will take to take you to clean this whole place up?” asked Channel 9 reporter Jeff Levkulich.
“If I was doing it myself, it would take about three weeks,” the man, who did not give his name, said.
The home has been going through foreclosure since 2013, according to the Seminole County Clerks of Court Office.
An official with code enforcement said if the bank forecloses on the home, the process would have to start again.
