Neighborhoods flooded by Ian fear additional damage from Nicole’s downpour

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said there is a plan in place to keep floodwaters from taking over the Orlo Vista area.

Hurricane Ian’s floodwaters forced people out of their homes in the area.

The mayor said workers are bringing down water levels in the area.

A lot of that has to do with making sure water in retention ponds is drained to allow for more rainfall to safely accumulate.

The last thing people in the area want is more flooding.

The historic flooding and devastation Ian left behind were scenes residents won’t soon forget.

More than a month has passed since the storm and residents are still working to get back to normal.

Many are still working to clear their homes as a new storm approaches.

During his news conference, Demings assured residents his office is doing everything possible to prevent a repeat event.
