ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9′s team of meteorologists determined Friday that Saturday will be a “Weather Alert Day,” because Central Florida is forecast to experience strong to severe thunderstorms.

The main threats are damaging winds in excess of more than 50 mph and an isolated tornado threat, especially for the northern parts of the region.
There could be storms in the area as early as Saturday morning, but the highest threat will be Saturday afternoon.

“A complex low pressure system is organizing out west in the Gulf, and we’ll see both scattered sea breeze storms through 10 p.m. tonight and a chance for severe storms Saturday afternoon and evening,” chief meteorologist Tom Terry said.
