NASA launches new satellites to help improve hurricane forecasting

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA has launched a new mission that may help us with forecasting future hurricanes.

They plan to have four satellites, each the size of a loaf of bread, orbit about 340 miles above the Earth’s surface.

The satellites will capture hourly observations of the rain, temperature, and humidity of tropical storms.

They launched the first two satellites over the weekend.
