KANNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station shared a special Christmas holiday message for everyone back on Earth.

They took a moment to with everyone who celebrates, along with friends and family, to have a “Merry Christmas.”

“One of the best things that I like about Christmas is the preparation and just getting ready, the anticipation, everybody getting together and preparing stuff, and getting ready for the holiday,” said astronaut Suni Williams.

Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore should have returned to Earth in June and were only planning to spend eight days in space.
Their Boeing Starliner spacecraft experienced technical issues in orbit, and they remained at the ISS due to safety concerns.

NASA is hoping to bring Williams and Wilmore home by March or April of next year.
