Mount Dora residents voice concerns over planned high-rise development

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — A planned development that would bring high-rise buildings to Mount Dora is moving forward.

The development would include office space, food and beverage options and more than a thousand residential units.

It’s the first big project to come before city council for the area, and some residents are worried that, if approved, it could set a bad precedent.

The development would be about three miles away from historic downtown and include both residential and commercial space, and bring with it a grocery store, convention center and senior living units.

The developers say, if approved, the project would bring close to 7,000 construction jobs and more than 1,500 permanent jobs to the area.
