Mount Dora police chief announces resignation

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Mount Dora Police Chief Brett Meade on Wednesday afternoon announced his retirement, the city said in a news release.

Records: Mount Dora officers arrested suspected drunk drivers on lesser charges to avoid paperwork

Deputy Chief Mike Gibson will serve as interim police chief until a replacement has been identified, according to the city.

“Serving the citizens of Mount Dora has been an honor and highlight of my 40-year professional career,” Meade said in the news release. “The Mount Dora Police Department is on a stable course and I am honored to serve with men and women so dedicated to serving our community.”

Meade has served with the Mount Dora Police Department since last year.
