SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — A mother is suing the Sumter County School District after her daughter’s coach was arrested and accused of having a romantic relationship with a 16-year-old student.
According to the lawsuit, coach Madelyn Mead was arrested following an investigation into the alleged relationship.
The lawsuit claims that after Mead’s arrest, school staff told investigators about other potential victims.
The mother is now seeking legal action against the school district, although the specific allegations and claims against the district will be addressed in court.
Mead is expected back in court next month as the criminal case continues.
