Mother, grandmother of woman fatally shot, leaving daughter to die in hot car, speaks out

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The search continues for the man Orange County deputies believe shot 20-year-old Massania Malcom to death and left her 1-year-old daughter, Jordania, to die in a hot car.

It happened last week inside a car that was parked off Lake Ellenor Drive.

The suspect, 21 year-old Doujon Griffiths, is also suspected of shooting the baby’s father.

Malcom’s mother, Latoya Reid, said she moved from Jamaica to the U.S. five years ago with her daughter, whom she affectionately calls Carla, hoping for a better life for her family.

She said her granddaughter Jordania, whom the family called Karlie, was her “heart, mind and soul.”

Reid said Griffiths, was a childhood friend of Malcom’s boyfriend.

She said she’s hoping that the man suspected of destroying her family will be brought to justice soon.
