More than 50 residents displaced as 2-alarm fire rips through Pine Hills apartment complex

ORLANDO, Fla. — Dozens of residents are without a place to stay after a massive fire broke out at a Pine Hills apartment complex Saturday morning.

The 2-alarm fire at the Jernigan Gardens apartments off of Mercy Dr. happened just after 7 a.m.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building as they arrived on the scene.

Officials said 56 residents from 8 separate apartments were affected by the blaze.

According to the Orlando Fire Department, there were no reports of anyone being injured.

The Red Cross said they had provided residents who were displaced by the fire with emergency assistance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
