More rain to hit Central Florida Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. — After a soggy Monday, with more than 5 inches of rain in some areas and numerous flood alerts, the rain’s finally beginning to settle down for the evening.

In addition to the heavy rain, severe storms in Central Florida dropped half-dollar-sized hail and cranked up the winds over 60 mph in some areas, Channel 9 Certified Meteorologist George Waldenberger said.

After a break from severe weather overnight, isolated showers will still be possible through Tuesday morning.

Then Tuesday afternoon, the risk of heavy rain and flooding in spots for the afternoon drive and into the evening return.

Wednesday and Thursday will more of the same, Waldenberger said. Keep an eye out for some very heavy rainfall totals that will chip away the recent drought conditions that developed earlier this spring.

Once we get to Memorial Day weekend, Waldenberger said, there will be drier weather.
