ORLANDO, Fla. — The sticker shock at the grocery store isn’t going away for Central Florida families.

Whether it’s cereal, baking products, dairy or seafood, prices on many foods are continuing to climb, and it’s forcing some local families to make some changes to save money.

The latest data from the consumer price index shows that, aside from your transportation bill, your grocery bill is taking the second hardest hit from inflation, and it means a shift at the local food pantries.
According to the latest consumer price index data for the Southeast region, people are paying close to 10% more on grocery items this year compared to last.

Some food pantries said they’ve seen more middle-income families that have lost their jobs and can’t make ends meet take advantage of their services, whereas it used to be lower-income families.
