Mission Control: See how AdventHealth is managing coronavirus pandemic

AdventHealth is using a unique tool to help manage the COVID-19 pandemic -- and only Eyewitness News got a behind-the-scenes look inside its “Mission Control.”

The area is a place where three important groups can all meet in one room to coordinate care as efficiently as possible.

“This is unlike any other health care system in the nation right now,” said Dr. Danjay Pattani, Mission Control medical director.

In mission control, nurses and other health care specialists monitor every single one of their patients across AdventHealth’s eight hospitals in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.

That’s anywhere between 1,800 and 2,200 patients on a given day.

AdventHealth launched Mission Control back in August, before the coronavirus, but now doctors say it’s pivotal in their response to the pandemic.
