Memorial Day weekend marks one of the busiest travel times

ORLANDO, Fla. — Memorial Day weekend marked one of the busiest travel times since the pandemic began.

About 800,000 people are expected to fly out of OIA during this travel period.

The two busiest days are already behind us. The third-busiest day is Monday, with more than 67,000 expected passengers.

Nationwide, about 39 million people traveled this weekend.

Transportation Security Administration workers were prepared to screen around 2 million people every day.

It is costing more to fly. Trips are 33% more expensive than last year.

AAA said more people will be choosing to drive for Memorial Day.

Expect the roads to be busiest toward the end of the day as people head home this afternoon.
