Meet Yuma & Sakari: 5-month-old Florida panthers arrive at Gatorland

ORLANDO, Fla. — Gatorland has announced adorable additions this week.

Yuma and Sakari, 5-month-old Florida panther siblings, has joined Gatorland’s wildlife family.

The 20-pound, 1.5-foot tall brother and sister were adopted were adopted from a sanctuary in the northeast part of the country and are now located in Gatorland’s Panther Springs, which includes sprawling, all-natural habitat complete with a waterfall, stream and majestic tree structure, Gatorland said in a news release.

When the siblings are full grown, they’ll weigh up to 150 pounds.

“We are thrilled to have these beautiful Florida Panther cubs with us for our guests to enjoy and learn about,” Mark McHugh, President and CEO of Gatorland, said in a news release. “Florida Panthers are endangered, with a small population of only about 200 in our state, and that number dwindles each year due to habitat loss and car collisions. It is important for us to give our guests a chance to observe them up close as they would never be able to do otherwise.”
