MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County Supervisor of Elections is alerting voters after thousands of unofficial voter registration mailings were sent out.
Officials said more than 7,000 Marion County residents received voter registration mailings from the Voter Participation Center (VPC) and the Center for Voter Information (CVI).

The letter is intended for unregistered voters and includes a pre-filled voter registration application and a return envelope addressed to the Marion County Election Center, officials said.
Elections officials said the VPC and the CVI are third-party non-governmental organizations and are not affiliated with the Marion County Election Center.

Commercial data is used, resulting in letters being sent with inaccurate and outdated information.
Prior mailings have resulted in letters sent to already registered voters, deceased persons, minor children, and even pets.
The Marion County Election Center said it has not printed, mailed or provided the data used in these mailings.

Voters are encouraged to look for the “Official Election Mail” logo or the Supervisor of Elections seal to verify official mailings.
Marion County residents can verify their voter registration status or eligibility by visiting www.VoteMarion.Gov or calling 352-620-3290, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
