Pedestrian killed in deadly Central Florida hit-and-run crash, troopers search for vehicle

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in Marion County.

The crash happened Saturday night around 11:25 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 35 and Southeast 28th Street.

Troopers said an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound in the left turn lane on SR-35, south of SE 28th Street.

According to a news release, a pedestrian was standing in the left turn when the vehicle hit the pedestrian and left the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the make and color of the vehicle are unknown at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
