‘Manatee watchers’ to be trained in Volusia County this week

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County is looking this week for volunteers to track manatees in local waterways.

“Manatee watchers” will have two training sessions this week.

Read: Record number of rescued manatees returned to Florida’s waters

They will be asked to document their sightings and photograph the gentle creatures.

The first training session will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in DeLand.

The second one is Sunday at 10 a.m. in Daytona Beach.
