ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A standoff between an 18-year-old man and Orange County deputies has ended.

Deputies were called to a subdivision at Winterhaven Circle in the 12000 block of Lakebrook Drive near South Alafaya Trail in east Orange County in the Waterford Park subdivision early Monday afternoon.

Orange County deputies said a man with a shotgun threatened to harm himself and others.

Deputies said the 18-year-old got into a fight with the mother of his child, also 18 years old, and held her in the home for awhile. She was not injured.

Officials said after the mother left, he grabbed the gun and threatened deputies.

The standoff lasted two-and-a-half-hours and he surrendered without incident, deputies said.

"They didn't really have any details, they just said he had a gun and we weren't allowed in there," student Olivia Ferrell, who was on her way home from school, said.

The subdivision is still blocked off.

Deputies said they were called to the home several times this weekend.
