ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators are searching for a man they said plowed his car into an Orange County home early Saturday before fleeing.
Officials said a man was driving 80 mph through a residential area near South John Young Parkway and State Road 408 at about 4:30 a.m. when he crashed through a home with a sleeping family inside.
Deshayla Bush said she was sleeping on a couch moments before a car burst through the walls of her home at Ferguson Drive and West Central Boulevard.
The pregnant woman said she got up from the couch because her child started crying.
“My heart just sank. I didn't even have any words. I didn't even know what to think,” Bush said. “It's nothing but God. He used my son to get me off that couch to keep me safe.”
Bush’s mother, Crystal Richards, was sleeping when the car barreled through the home. As she walked through the debris, she encountered the man behind the wheel.
“The young man jumped out was like ‘I'm sorry ma'am. I'm sorry ma'am.’” Richards said. “And he bolted, just took off running.”
The women, who moved into the house only two weeks ago, are now left salvaging their belongings.
“I haven't even hung pictures on the wall yet,” Richards said. “That was our project today. So now instead of project picture hanging, we're project clean-up.”
Richards said despite losing her possessions, she’s grateful no one was injured.
“We were just really scared,” she said. “I broke down afterwards, just glad that everyone is OK.”
Officials didn’t immediately respond to Channel 9’s inquiries into whether the suspect was captured.
