VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man died after a car struck him along West International Speedway Boulevard Monday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers responded to the crash at U.S. Highway 92 and General Custer Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Investigators determined that the man was trying to cross the highway when a motorist traveling eastbound collided with him.
The pedestrian, 55, of Daytona Beach, died at the crash site, according to FHP.

Investigators did not identify the man nor did they release the name of the driver, but said she lives in nearby Ormond Beach.
The crash is still under investigation, according to FHP.
