That is when police say Bennett drove off at a high rate of speed, forcing officers to end the pursuit.

According to police Bennett then ran a red light and struck an Acura driven by 50-year-old Daniel J. Ruddell Jr.

The Acura then hit a tree and then a telephone pole killing Ruddlell Jr.

The Malibu then hit three other parked vehicles before coming to a complete stop.

Bennett, who had to be cut from the Malibu, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Daytona Beach police are still investigating the crash and say Bennett is facing several criminal charges.
