Man accused of doing donuts around Orange County fire truck amid crackdown on street racing

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested after he was accused of doing donuts around a fire truck in April, preventing it from responding to an emergency in Orange County.

Deputies have been searching for the person behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger since then.

Elijah Grove-Thomas is facing felony and misdemeanor charges. However, the sheriff’s office said Grove-Thomas is not the only person they’ve arrested recently for street racing.

Channel 9 has covered numerous street racing incidents and burnouts in the middle of streets across Orange County. Grove-Thomas’ arrest is one of many the sheriff’s office has made this year.

In July, Orange County deputies made 106 arrests involving street racing, and issued more than 500 tickets. There were also 37 vehicles impounded over a two-month span.
