One person killed in head-on crash in Osceola County, troopers say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A 29-year-old man is dead after a major crash in Osceola County early Sunday.

The crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Simpson Road and Eagle Bay Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that a man driving a Ford F-150 truck was traveling southbound on Simpson Road when he attempted to make a right turn and drifted into the opposite lane into ongoing traffic.

The driver ran into the path of a Volkswagen Jetta, hitting the front of the vehicle, troopers said.

The Volkswagen had a 22-year-old woman driving with a 29-year-old male passenger.

Both drivers and the passenger were transported to Osceola Regional Hospital.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to FHP.

This crash remains under investigation.
