DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Main Street Bridge in Daytona Beach has reopened after emergency repairs were made Thursday morning.
The bridge was closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at 8 a.m. after it experienced an electrical malfunction that made the drawbridge inoperable.
A crew from Volusia County’s Road and Bridge Division opened the bridge manually to permit boat traffic, while the bridge underwent repairs.
Officials believed the bridge would have to remain closed until 4 p.m. Thursday but announced that the bridge reopened at noon.
Motorists wer asked to use the bridges at Seabreeze Avenue and International Speedway Boulevard while repairs were made to the bridge.
