Longtime Disney World silhouette artist returns to work after pandemic furlough

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A familiar face to decades of Disney visitors just got the call to return to the job she knows she was cut out for.

For almost two years, artist Beth Pray has been ready for the callback that finally came: To reopen her silhouette cart at Magic Kingdom.

“I’m going to cry like a baby right on Main Street,” Pray said. “It’s like an old-timey photograph. It’s just something to remember. And they love it.”

For more than two decades, Pray has helped provide one of the oldest keepsakes for parkgoers, which was the idea of Walt Disney himself.

Pray kept busy during the pandemic by selling custom online orders.

Walt Disney World said Tuesday that more than 50,000 are back on the job, along with 15,000 new hires.

You can find Pray along Main Street or Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom.
