Look alive: Disney debuts trailer for ‘Haunted Mansion’ film based on classic attraction

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Get excited, foolish mortals.

Walt Disney Pictures on Thursday debuted the first trailer for “Haunted Mansion,” the new movie based on the classic attraction at both Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

Justin Simien directs the adaptation starring Rosario Dawson,  LaKeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy and Tiffany Haddish.

The film, judging by the trailer, utilizes the Disneyland attraction exterior over Disney World’s attraction façade. However, the film will clearly incorporate some of the attraction’s iconic scenes such as the stretching portraits, the organ-playing ghost and the Black Widow Bride.

This marks the second attempt to bring The Haunted Mansion to the big screen, following the critically panned 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy.

“Haunted Mansion” hits theaters July 28.
