As more people work from home, nonclinical employees at one local hospital said they’re being put at risk by not being allowed to work remotely.
Channel 9 investigative reporter Karla Ray took those concerns to Halifax Health officials, who at this point said they aren’t budging.
Several Halifax employees in roles like IT and patient billing sent Ray emails saying they have the ability to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic, but they’re being denied that option.

Halifax leadership said they don’t feel like a blanket remote working mandate is in the community’s best interest to provide care.
In an email, marketing vice president John Guthrie told Channel 9:
“Halifax Health is focused on providing a safe work environment and is approaching remote work possibilities on a case by case basis. However, we do not feel a blanket remote working mandate is in our community’s best interest to provide care.”
