ORLANDO, Fla. — We’re already starting to see tropical storm advisories come into the area for Potential Tropical Cyclone 1.

11 p.m. update

Possible Tropical Cyclone 1 still remains broad and disorganized, Channel 9 Certified Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and tropical storm conditions across the southern part of the region on Saturday.

8:45 p.m. update

Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 is still forecast to become a full-fledged tropical depression and then Tropical Storm Alex, Channel 9 Certified Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said.

The storm is slow-moving, but will move across South Florida on Saturday, Terry said.

6:30 p.m. update

The highest-impact areas of this weekend’s forecast as Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 moves into the area are expected to be South Florida with the threat of heavy rain, Channel 9 Certified Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said.

The storm is expected to hit late Friday and Saturday.

5 p.m. update

Tropical storm watches are in effect for Brevard, Osceola and Polk counties, Channel 9 meteorologist Tom Terry said.

Impacts will be felt more in the southern zones with heavy rain especially at the coast and general ‘squalliness’. Saturday will be the day for most of our local impacts starting early in the morning.

There are no alarming red flags so far, except for a heavy rain threat in South Florida.

The disturbance could become a tropical depression or tropical storm while it moves slowly northeastward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and southeastern Gulf of Mexico during the next day or two.
