10 inmates have died from COVID-19, officials say

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, 10 inmates have died from COVID-19 as of Sunday.
Uber to require all drivers, riders to wear face masks starting Monday
7:15 p.m. update
Starting Monday, all Uber riders, drivers and delivery people will be required to wear a face mask.
Total COVID-19 cases in Florida surpass 45,000

The Florida Department of Health on Sunday released numbers about the coronavirus in the state. Here are some takeaways:
--- 45,588: Total number of cases.
--- 777: Increase in cases from a Saturday count.
--- 1,973: Deaths of Florida residents.
--- 9: Increase in deaths from a Saturday count, with deaths of people who tested positive in Citrus, Miami-Dade, DeSoto, Duval, Hillsborough, Martin and Polk counties.
--- 66: Overall cases in DeSoto County.
--- 7: Deaths in DeSoto County, with the verification Sunday of the death of a 67-year-old woman.
--- 76.7: Average age in DeSoto County deaths.
--- 883: Deaths of residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.
--- 8: Increase in long-term care facility deaths from a Saturday count.
--- 44.8: Percentage of deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.
--- 10: Counties with at least 25 deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Manatee, Lee, Pinellas, Sarasota, Polk, Hillsborough, Charlotte).
--- 18: Counties with at least 11 deaths involving residents or staff members of long-term care facilities (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Manatee, Lee, Pinellas, Sarasota, Polk, Hillsborough, Charlotte, Collier, Suwannee, Volusia, Clay, Escambia, Duval, Hendry, St. Lucie).
Obama gives graduation speech for Class of 2020

Former President Barack Obama addressed graduating seniors across America who haven’t been able to attend their own graduation ceremonies.

Obama acknowledged the unprecedented shift in daily life and operations in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the uncertainty and intimidation some may be feeling about the future.

56 coronavirus deaths, 1,450 new cases statewide this weekend
12:15 p.m. update
Florida health officials reported that nine people died of COVID-19 since Saturday, including one person in Central Florida.
Officials said 777 new cases of the virus have also been reported in the state since Saturday.
Data shows there have been 45,588 cases of the virus in the state and 1,973 deaths.

The latest death in Central Florida was that of a person in Polk County.
On Saturday, six deaths were reported in Central Florida -- two in Orange County and one each in Seminole, Osceola, Brevard and Polk counties.

COVID-19 and pools
10:50 a.m. update
With summer approaching, temperatures rising and people searching for outdoor activities to enjoy in the midst of business closures, some are starting to think about appropriate pool etiquette during the coronavirus pandemic.

Unreliable COVID-19 test results
7:15 a.m. update
The results of more than 35,000 COVID-19 tests ordered by a Florida-based health care system and performed by a third-party lab have been deemed unreliable.
The majority of the questionable tests were conducted in Florida.
Faith-based health care system AdventHealth said the situation has created “unacceptable delays.”
In a statement released Saturday, AdventHealth didn’t name the third party lab.
The tests were a mixture of positive and negative results.

The company will notify the patients who are affected.
About 25,000 of the unreliable tests were in the Central Florida area.
Officials said there have been more than 44,800 confirmed cases of the virus in Florida and at least 1,964 deaths.
Pence to visit Orlando
5:40 a.m. update
Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to visit a nursing home in Orlando to deliver personal protective equipment.
His office said Saturday he will visit the city Wednesday.
After the nursing home visit, Pence is scheduled to participate in a discussion with hospitality and tourism leaders to talk about plans for reopening.
