Morgan Alderman Road is the only way in and out of Lake Harney Woods and its more than 250 homes. As of Tuesday, it’s still covered in about 7 inches of water making it only accessible if you have a truck, ATV or someone willing to tow you if you’re stuck.

“It’s like living in the 1800s, except we have electricity and better health care if you can get to it,” resident Dave Willis said.

The floodwaters have receded some, but Willis said getting out is still difficult. The county and the Canjun Navy have dropped off food and supplies to be handed out at an abandoned firehouse in Mims.

Some residents cannot get their mail, groceries or medication unless they get a ride out of State Road 46.
