Lake County reaches COVID-19 vaccine distribution capacity less than an hour after opening

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Lake County health officials announced Wednesday that they received 12,600 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccination site for people ages 65 and older at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center at 3700 S. Hwy 27 in Clermont reached capacity on Wednesday less than an hour after the opened the gates at 9 a.m.

Officials said they planed to vaccinate 800 to 1,000 people a day. The site will not be open every day.

They urge people not to camp outside the vaccination site.

The county said it is working on creating a scheduling software so residents can make an appointment to get vaccinated.
