Carpenters tribute concert that re-creates 1976 tour coming to Mount Dora

A Carpenters tribute band honoring the brother-sister duo is coming to Mount Dora later this month.

“Carpenters Tribute Concert: A Re-creation of the 1976 UK Tour” will make its stop at the Mount Dora Community, 520 N. Baker St., at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 29. That’s just a few days before what would be Karen Carpenter’s 70th birthday on March 2.

The show, direct from Las Vegas, stars Sally Olson as Karen Carpenter and pianist Ned Mills as Richard Carpenter, and features back-up from the country’s top musicians.

It is billed as “the world’s ONLY authentic Carpenters production in sight and sound," the show will feature hits including “We’ve Only Just Began” “Yesterday Once More,” “Superstar” and more, according to a news release.

The show will also feature a live band, historical commentary, arrangements and video and more to take fans down memory lane into the world of Carpenters.

Tickets range from $25 to $45 and can be purchased through mountdoraproductions.com.
