LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Lake County Schools on Monday voted to delay the start of the school year from Aug. 10 to Aug. 24.

The decision came after an eight-hour meeting.

Officials have also added a fourth option for students and parents, which features online learning taught by a teacher at the student’s school, or a teacher at a nearby school.
The school board also voted to send a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis, requesting more control in district affairs such as opening and closing dates.
