Lake County may invest TDT funds in sports facility expansions, upgrades

Multiple Lake County sports tourism projects are up for millions in tourism development tax funding.

The Lake County Commission on Aug. 27 will consider $2.85 million for the county’s Hickory Point Recreational Complex Project, as well as up to $3.99 million for the city of Leesburg for a pair of sports projects. The tourist development tax is collected on hotels and other short-term rentals, with proceeds used for projects that promote or grow tourism.
