Lake County man accused of beating another man with a golf club

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s said that a man was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on Sunday after he beat another man with a golf club.

According to an affidavit, deputies were called to Harbor Hills Golf Course in Lady Lake around 1:30 pm.

Authorities said a verbal altercation turned violent after the suspect, Eddie Cha Orobitg, 52, of Lake Lady, started hitting the victim with a golf club.

According to the victim, he walked with his wife on the golf course path. Orobitg approached him and his wife and told them they weren’t allowed to walk in that area of the course because it was strictly for golf carts.

Deputies said that an argument eventually turned physical. The suspect began striking the victim with a golf club several times.

Investigators said all the victim had to defend himself was a water bottle.

Deputies said while speaking to the victim, they observed blood on his body and clothing as well as several cuts on his body. His ear lobe was also ripped, according to the affidavit.

According to a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, the wife of the victim and the juvenile son of the suspect gave completely different accounts of how the altercation began and continued.

The suspect’s son claimed the victim had started the argument. But the wife of the victim provided a statement that corroborated the one provided by her husband.
